When Marina moved with her two children to Aurora, she didn’t know where to go for healthcare. Originally from Germany, she had spent time in California, when sadly, her husband passed away. She returned to Germany to be with family, but a year later, returned to the U.S. because her son couldn’t receive the medical care that he needed in Germany.

Fortunately, Marina was connected to STRIDE’s Pine Tree Health Center. Soon after her family’s initial visit, her pediatrician referred her son, River, to Children’s Hospital. The STRIDE care team also connected Marina and River to an occupational and speech therapist to help River with his development.
“Dr. Karin Rohleder is absolutely amazing,” Marina said. “She took the time to get to know my kids. Thanks to her, we finally got an official diagnosis for my son. Back in Germany, our doctors could not identify it, even though there was something off [with his development]. Dr. Rohleder has been so helpful, advocating for my kids.”

“The team at Pine Tree has helped me navigate the system and get the right resources,” she said. “We are in a really good place, very stabilized. With the support we receive from STRIDE – we’re going to stick around here for a while.”
